Ballet Classes are based on the Cecchetti method with an emphasis on grace, poise, proper body lines and a thorough understanding of executing proper technique. In addition, students will be instructed on ballet history, terminology and occasionally view age and level appropriate performance videos to assist with their learning. Dancers will be encouraged to use their natural turnout and learn safe exercises for increasing their natural range of motion. All ballet classes will include a center floor warm up followed by traditional barre exercises, across the floor exercises and center floor work.
Jazz Classes incorporate traditional, Broadway and contemporary styles in a high energy, fun atmosphere. Classes will include warm ups, across the floor technique, center combinations and flexibility exercises set to popular music. Students will be instructed on jazz history, terminology and occasionally view age and level appropriate performance videos to assist with their learning.
Tap Classes include basic footwork, musicality and rhythm. Tap classes will encourage a full body approach which will incorporate all forms of dance to enhance dancers’ overall technique. Classes include warm ups, across the floor exercises and combinations that blend coordination and rhythm into high-energy routines. Students will be instructed on tap history, terminology and occasionally view age and level appropriate performance videos to assist with their learning.
Creative Dance Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes of dance exploration. These classes are specifically designed for dancers 2.5-5 years old. Lessons primarily focus on providing a structured outlet for physical release while introducing Ballet, Tap and/or Tumbling in a creative set of themed exercises often utilizing props and visual aids. Light-hearted, fun and whimsical for all! All students enrolled in Creative Dance Classes must be potty trained.
Summer Camps are offered throughout the summer months to children ages 2.5 and up. Campers attend 4-day themed camps based on exciting themes like Broadway, Disney and Glee to explore new styles of dance along with a themed craft project. Dance campers perform a routine for their parents in the studio at the end of the week to showcase their new moves based on the theme of the camps.
To ensure that all students receive the utmost attention, class sizes are limited. Waitlists are available for students interested in enrolling in classes that are full.
Toddler Time Classes meet once a week for 30 minutes of dance exploration. Classes are specifically designed for toddlers 2-3 years old. Exercises set to your child’s favorite ABC and 123 songs. Parachutes, instruments, mats & more, everything your toddler needs to learn & explore!
Creative Dance Classes meet once a week for 45 minutes of dance exploration. Classes are specifically designed for dancers 3-5 years old. Lessons primarily focus on providing a structured outlet for physical release while introducing Ballet, Tap and/or Tumbling in a creative set of themed exercises often utilizing props and visual aids. Must be potty trained.
Ballet/Tap/Jazz classes meet once a week for 45 minutes of introductory ballet and jazz technique that has a whimsical flare specifically designed for children ages 5-7 in the in-between stages of creative dance and full length technique classes.
Level I-III Group Classes meet once a week for one hour. Students will be instructed on proper technique in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical or Hip Hop dance specifically designed for their age and level. Students will also learn appropriate rehearsal and performance etiquette in preparation for the annual recital. Group classes will be offered in a range of levels, beginner through advanced. Ballet is the foundation for all dance styles taught at Wings School of Dance, students are highly encouraged to take ballet in addition to other technique classes.
